Remove a Recording from a Project
Take a recording out of a project without deleting it.
Use this when
A recording is in the wrong project, or you want to unassign it so it shows up in the unassigned pool again. Removing a recording from a project does not delete the recording or its files — it only breaks the association between the recording and that project.
Before you start
The recording must already be assigned to a project. If it is unassigned, there is nothing to remove.
Remove a recording from a project
- Open the project in Projects and find the recording, or find it in Library.
- Right-click the recording.
- Click Move to Project… in the context menu.
- In the dialog that opens, click Remove from project at the top of the list. A checkmark moves to that option.
- Click Move.
The recording is unassigned. It disappears from the project's recording list and reappears in the unassigned pool.
What you should see
The recording is no longer listed in the project detail screen. In Library it still appears in your full recording list with no project label attached. You can now assign it to a different project or leave it unassigned.
The difference between removing and deleting
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Remove from project | Unlinks the recording from the project. Recording stays in your library. Files on disk are untouched. |
| Remove from library | Removes the recording from HumVision entirely. Files on disk are still not deleted, but the recording is no longer visible in the app until you re-import it. |
Remove from library is a separate menu item below a divider in the context menu and shows a confirmation dialog before proceeding.
If it does not work
- "Remove from project" is not listed in the dialog — the recording is already unassigned. The option only appears when the recording currently belongs to a project.
- The Move button stays disabled — you have not changed the selection. Click Remove from project to select it, then click Move.
- The recording reappears in the project after a moment — a sync conflict may have occurred. Reopen the project to confirm the final state.
