Export KMZ for Google Earth

Export a mosaic as KMZ for Google Earth review.

Use this when

You have generated a mosaic and want to open it in Google Earth Pro to review the scan over satellite imagery or share the overlay with someone else.

Before you start

  • A mosaic must already be generated. The Export button is greyed out until generation completes.
  • Google Earth Pro must be installed on your machine if you want to open the file immediately.

Export the KMZ

  1. Open the recording in HumVision and go to the Mosaic view.
  2. Generate the mosaic if you have not already done so.
  3. Click Export.
  4. Select KMZ (Google Earth) from the menu.
  5. Choose a save location in the file dialog. The filename defaults to the recording name with a .kmz extension.
  6. Click Save. A confirmation toast appears when the file is written.

What you should see

The KMZ file is saved to your chosen location. Open it in Google Earth Pro and the mosaic appears draped over the lake surface at the correct position. The overlay name and a brief description (including grid size and resolution) are embedded in the file.

The exported image uses the same brightness and contrast settings you had active in the Mosaic view at the time of export, so what you see on screen matches what lands in Google Earth.

If it does not work

  • Export button is greyed out — the mosaic has not been generated yet. Click Generate Mosaic first and wait for it to complete.
  • File saves but Google Earth shows it in the wrong place — the recording likely had sparse or offset GPS. Check the GPS track in the Map view before generating.
  • Google Earth shows a black or blank overlay — the intensity data may be very low contrast. Increase brightness in the Mosaic view, then export again.
  • File dialog closes with no file saved — you cancelled the dialog or chose a location with no write permission. Try saving to your Desktop.
