Why Mosaic Is Unavailable

Use this when

You open the Mosaic view in HumVision and see a message that SI channels are not available, or the Generate Mosaic button is greyed out.

Why it happens

The recording has no Side Imaging channels

A mosaic is built from the port and starboard Side Imaging beams. Recordings made without a Side Imaging transducer, or with SI recording turned off on the unit, will not have those channels. The Mosaic view shows "Side-scan mosaic needs SI channels" in place of the map.

Only one SI channel is present

HumVision requires both the port and starboard Side Imaging channels to be loaded and non-empty. If the recording file contains only one side, or one channel has no ping data, the view treats it the same as having no SI channels.

A generation is already in progress

The Generate Mosaic button is disabled while a mosaic is being built. Wait for the current generation to finish, or cancel it first.

No recording is open

If no .DAT file is loaded, there is no channel data at all. Open a recording from the Library first.

How to check

1. Open the recording and look at the channel list in the sonar view. If you see "SI Port" and "SI Stbd" channels with data, the recording has SI.
2. If the Mosaic view shows "Side-scan mosaic needs SI channels", the recording file either lacks SI data entirely or the SI channels are empty.
3. Check the original .DAT filename and compare with other recordings from the same unit. Humminbird file naming uses suffixes to indicate which transducer channels are present — a recording from a non-SI unit will never produce a mosaic regardless of settings.

What to do next

• No SI channels — the recording must have been captured with a Side Imaging transducer with SI recording enabled on the unit. There is no way to generate a mosaic from a recording that lacks this data.
• Only one SI channel loaded — if the recording file should contain both channels, try closing and re-opening it. If only one channel appears consistently, the file may have been captured with SI partially disabled.
• Generation in progress — wait for it to complete, or scroll to the bottom of the Mosaic view and click Cancel to stop the current run before starting a new one.
