Download a Shared Recording

Pull a shared recording onto your machine for review.

Use this when

A teammate has shared a recording and you want to pull it onto your machine so you can open it in the viewer.

Before you start

  • You must be on a Team or Department plan in the same organisation as the person who shared the recording.
  • The recording must show a Synced chip. Recordings showing Uploading, Metadata only, or Failed cannot be downloaded yet.

Download a shared recording

  1. Open the Shared screen from the left sidebar.
  2. Find the recording card. Confirm the chip reads Synced.
  3. Click Download on the card.
  4. A folder-picker opens. Choose where to save the recording on your machine and click Open.
  5. The app downloads and extracts the recording files. A toast appears when it is done: *"Shared recording downloaded."*
  6. The recording opens automatically in the viewer.

The downloaded recording is added to your local library. You can find it later under the save location you chose.

What you should see

After the download finishes, the viewer opens with the recording loaded. The recording also appears in your Library under the folder you selected.

If it does not work

  • No "Download" button on the card — the recording is not fully uploaded yet. Wait for the chip to change to Synced, then try again.
  • Chip shows "Metadata only" — the person who shared this recording shared the metadata but the file upload has not started or completed. Ask them to re-share the recording from their Library.
  • Chip shows "Failed" — the original upload failed. Ask the owner to remove and re-share the recording.
  • Picker opens but download fails — a network error interrupted the transfer. Check your connection and click Download again. Retrying is safe.
  • "Shared recording download failed" toast — the file on the server may be corrupted or the connection dropped mid-transfer. Ask the owner to remove and re-share the recording, then try downloading again.
